On Monday, you received your story assignment for the first issue of the paper.
Today, I want you to create a draft of your piece. Use as much information as you have at your disposal.
THIS WILL BE COLLECTED FOR A GRADE AT THE END OF CLASS!
Step One: Open a WORD file.
Step Two: Fill out the following:
A. What is your story?
B. Who are you interviewing for the story?
C. What questions do you plan on asking your subject(s)? List them in your story.
D. If you have interviewed them already, list the best answers you received, your bytes.
E. What's your angle? What do you plan on saying about your subject right now?
Step Three
-- Outline your story. It should be 3-4 paragraphs long. What information will go in your lead, inverted pyramid graf? Where do you plan on putting your quotes? What other information do you plan on adding to the piece?
Step Four -- If you have your interview done, give me a rough draft of your piece. This will get you close to your final piece.
Step Five --
Does your piece have a photo already in the shared drive which you plan on using? You should have selected one on Monday.
LIST THE NUMBER OF THE PHOTO (they all have an abbreviation and number) in your Word File. You do not have to paste it in, though you can try (these files are very large).
Step Six: when you are done, save your word file as "paper draft" and e-mail it to me as an attachment:
