We will be re-testing for the SLOs next week. You may recall you wrote a story on a wrestler in the spring To prep you for the re-test, I'm giving you a very short feature writing assignment on this year's breakfast program. Download the word file that here and use it to write a practice lead on breakfast in the classroom.
Here is the grading template from the fall. It will help you create your new story today:
Students will be graded on a 100 point scale which will evaluate the students’ understanding of the following key concepts:
1. Is the story the correct length? 4 paragraphs? (10 points)
2. Does the story have a human-interest opening? (10 points)
3. Does the story have a buried lede in the appropriate place? (10 points)
4. Does the story incorporate two quotes each from two different sources, one of them the story’s main subject? (12 points)
5. Does the writer incorporate relevant information from the background data and interviews supplied to give needed context to the subject's profile? (10 points)
6. Does the story have good overall structure? (8 points)
7. Does the story flow from paragraph to paragraph? Does it have effective transitions? (10 points)
8. Are the sentences written in simple or simple compound form? (10 points)
9. Are the sentences in active voice? (10 points)
10. Does the story have an effective headline, in proper form? (10 points)
