Today, Wednesday and Friday, you will complete a two-part project for your news story project.
Part I -- write a standup for the breakfast in the classroom story. It will address some of the following questions:
1. What was the old program like?
2. What changes did the new program make to breakfast at Eastside?
3 . Why were these changes thought to be better?
4. How have things actually worked out?
End with a teaser. You don't have to answer all the questions in your standup. That will be done in the story.
Go to the 60 Minutes web site:
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/hoop-dreams-60-minutes-lesley-stahl/
and watch the standup reporter Leslie Stahl does for her story "Hoop Dreams" about somebody with unusually photo-like memory. You don't have to watch all the story if you don't want to, but you can if this helps you.
By Wednesday, you will have a script to show me for the standup. The intro of your piece. It should be about 30 seconds long or so.
Part II of this assignment will have you record the standup. You can do it in front of the white screen in class, leaving space so we can superimposed a graphic behind you. Part two is due by the end of class on Friday.
