Today, we're going to begin a nine-week PBS curriculum that will prepare us to make our own news story that we can submit to them.
Go to the PBS Student Lab Website:
http://www.studentreportinglabs.com/reporting-labs-curriculum
Click on the curriculum tab:
Click on the blue link that says "curriculum." This has all the lessons.
Today, we're going to do lesson one - What is Newsworthy?
Click on the headline that says "more" or on the title itself.
Look at the worksheet. On a Word document, answer the questions as a team.
Team A -- go to bbc.com
Team B -- go to cnn.com
Team C -- go to nytimes.com
Do the "Main Activity" from the lesson using the lesson 1.1 worksheet. Answer questions about Above the Fold stories and Centerpiece stories.
3. We'll do the section on Target Audiences, and then each team will e-mail its word document with the answers to me.
