This week we will work on photo composition. This is spirit week and we need to gather photos for stories on spirit week, the homecoming king, queen and court elections, the pep rally and the Homecoming game.
Today, we'll begin with shot scale. This is a system developed by Hollywood and used by photographers everywhere to help them create shots that are easily recognized. I am going to show you the seven most common framings today, going from an extreme long shot to an extreme close up. Those shots are on the slide show below.
Assignment One -- Using Powerpoint (the orange P at the bottom of your screen) go to google images and find an example of each of the seven shots. You will have 25 minutes to complete this task.
Assignment Two -- Using the cameras on the table, create a set of photos that include one example of each shot framing. I will put you in teams and I want everybody in the team to create at least one of the shots in the final set. Take the shots in the room.
When you have taken all your shots, load them into one of your team member's computer and create a second Powerpoint slide show, showing the seven framings. Make sure to include a title slide with each team member's name on it.
Turn in your individual and your team slide shows by the end of class.
