Today we will work more with photo filters, effects that we used in the T-shirt assignment.
I want you to experiment with the many looks you can create in Photoshop, using a photograph.
Step One -- Take a selfie of yourself. Or find a high quality (over 1000 x 1000 pixels) photo of somebody you admire. Copy that photo onto your clipboard and keep it there. (select all and then copy in the Preview program.) You will use it several times today.
Step Two -- Paste the photo into a new Photoshop document. Then, go into the filter option on your menu bar, then drop down to artistic, (filter > artistic > colored pencil) then try out several of the features you will get fifteen different options to choose from, from watercolor to fresco to film grain and many more. When you select one, your photo will get very big and a box will appear on the right that lets you click through the options. TRY OUT SEVERAL, AND THEN CLICK "OK" when you find one you like.
Step Three -- Go back to file in the menu bar, create a new document, which will be next to the first one, paste your original photo into it, then use the filter and go to Filter > Sketch > then try one of those options, like Chrome or charcoal or water paper. Go though all of them and find the one you like best.
Step Four -- create a new document, paste your original photo into it, then try the glowing edges filter, which you'll find this way: filter > Stylize > glowing edges.
Step Five -- create a fourth document, paste the photo into it, then choose an option from the Texture, option. Filter > texture > your choice.
You will now have four photos, next to each other in your photoshop program. Save each of the four as jpegs and send them to me when you are done. Have fun. You can send all four jpegs in one e-mail as attachments.
