On Monday, we started learning the functions of the Tool panel or palette, which runs vertically (up and down) on the left edge of your workspace.
Today, I want you to create a slideshow in POWERPOINT, the orange P icon on your lower toolbar, which covers the functions we have covered.
1. Begin by opening a slideshow in Powerpoint. Use a basic white theme.
2. Open a window in a web browser and go to this site, which has descriptions of all the buttons in the tool panel:
http://www.tutorialboard.net/toolspanel/
You can see the main panel reprinted on the left.
3. Beneath the tool bar, you will see slides for each button on the tool bar, with a photo and a description. For example, the move tool shows the move button and a slide of a red pepper.
I want you to create power point slides for each of the following buttons, which we have covered on Monday and in previous weeks:
A. the move tool
B. the Rectangular Marquee tool (we used the elliptical, or round tool option of this button on Monday).
C. the eraser tool, which we used in the green screen project
D. the brush tool, which was also used on Monday.
E. the zoom tool, which was also used on Monday.
F. the type tool, which we also used on Monday.
4. Do a google image search for each button. For instance, do a google image search for photoshop move tool button. When you find it, find a large image of the icon, or button. Then right click on it, and save it. This will move it to your clip board.
Go into powerpoint and create a slide for this button, using the new slide text and icons option. You can then paste your image into the slide. Add a title, and then add a text box, where you will explain what the button does.
5. When you are finished, you should have a six slide presentation. Save it, name it "Tool Panel Exercise" and e-mail it to me. Be sure to put your name on the slide show. You will receive a grade for this and will get a zero if you do not attempt it.
